LAMDA Acting Lessons & Exams

With ASH Stage Productions
STARTING 1ST FEBRUARY 2026
We are delighted to introduce our LAMDA Acting lessons, delivered in line with the official LAMDA Acting syllabus, and designed to develop confident communicators, skilled performers, and well-rounded individuals.

Our classes focus on LAMDA Solo Acting, with students working towards official LAMDA Solo Acting monologue examinations, following the published criteria and assessment standards set by LAMDA (London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art).

What is LAMDA?
LAMDA (London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art) is one of the UK’s oldest and most respected drama institutions. Its qualifications are internationally recognised and highly regarded by schools, universities, and employers.

LAMDA Acting examinations are structured to develop:
- Clear communication and presentation skills
- Performance and interpretive ability
- Independent learning and self-discipline
- Confidence, focus, and resilience

Why Choose LAMDA Acting?
LAMDA Acting supports confidence, creativity, and clear self-expression. These transferable skills are valuable both on stage and in everyday life. Drama training supports wider academic development by strengthening concentration, memory, organisation, and independent working skills.

Students are introduced to professional acting approaches aligned with the LAMDA syllabus, influenced by practitioners such as Konstantin Stanislavski and Uta Hagen, supporting truthful, disciplined, and thoughtful performance.

LAMDA Acting qualifications are nationally recognised qualifications, and carry UCAS tariff points at Grade 6, Grade 7, and Grade 8. This means they can support college and university applications.

They demonstrate commitment, communication skills, and discipline

LAMDA UCAS points do not replace A-levels, but they can strengthen an application, particularly for competitive courses.

The LAMDA Acting Syllabus
We teach the official LAMDA Acting syllabus, from Entry Level through to Grade 8, ensuring students meet the published assessment criteria at each stage.

Each Solo Acting examination assesses:
- Performance, a prepared solo acting monologue
- Knowledge & Understanding – discussion of character, intention, and context
- Skills Development – vocal clarity, physical expression, interpretation, and creativity
- Progression is carefully supported and never rushed.

Our LAMDA Teachers
Lessons are delivered by experienced performing arts practitioners, educated to degree level, with professional backgrounds in theatre, performance, and teaching. Our staff have worked as teachers, actors and directors and are experienced in supporting students of all abilities.

All teachers are fully DBS checked, and safeguarding and student wellbeing are central to our practice. Lessons take place in a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment.

Our teaching approach is structured, encouraging, and confidence-focused, balancing professional standards with enjoyment and creativity.

Lesson Structure & Commitment
- Classes focus on LAMDA Solo Acting.
- Students develop and refine solo monologues.
- Lessons are taught in small groups (maximum 4 students), a minimum of 2 students is required for a class to run.

We believe strongly in progress over speed, ensuring each student builds confidence, skill, and enjoyment.
Commitment & Independent Practice

To progress successfully through the LAMDA syllabus, students are expected to show commitment, focus, and enthusiasm. Independent practice outside of lessons, such as learning lines and refining performance choices, supports confidence and strong exam outcomes. Expectations are always age-appropriate and manageable, with guidance provided throughout.

Exams & Progression
Students may be entered for 1-3 LAMDA Acting examinations per year, depending on:
- Individual readiness and progress
- Exam availability and scheduling
- Confidence, maturity, and technical development
Exam entry is never rushed and is always discussed with parents and students.
